My profile

My name is Luis Enrique, I’m 20 years old, I’m studying management, I’m really proud of being part of the UNAM. Now I’m studying the fourth semester, which is more or less the half of the complete program. In the future, I will like to study abroad but it depends if I get a scholarship, this is one of the reasons for studying English. I have to brothers, one older and one younger.
I like music, specially alternative rock music, some of my favorite bands are: Foo fighters, Hot Hot Heat, Kings of Leon, Razorlight, The Charlatans and of course the strokes. I play the guitar but just as a hobby, when I was in highschool I used to study music but then I regret because I didn´t see my future as a musician so I leave it just as a hobby. I like going to the cinema, I hate horror movies!, I avoid to see them, I enjoy a lot to party with my friends and I love playing poker, Texas Hold’em, 21 Black jack. I like to read mafia stories, like the godfather or the Sicilian.
I like to see and practice some sports, for example football soccer, tennis, I love to practice tennis table. Actually I’m not practicing any sport but if I have the chance I do it. I also really like to watch the American football and swimming.
I have always thought that every person is a different world so I try to learn from everybody.

Letter to a Canadian

Dear Canadian friend:
HI!!! My name is Luis Enrique, I'm 19 years old and I'm studyng management here at the UNAM, I really like this major, in the future, I want to get a scholarship in a Canadian University and earn a degree there.
Some months ago, I had the opportunity to talk with some Canadians, I had a good impression, They are very nice persons. Now I want to take advantage of the opportunities that Canada is giving to study and work there.
These days in Mexico try to visit very interesting places, try to taste many kinds of different food. Mexico has a big diversity in their people, the culture, places, the food. Some places I can recommend to you are:
Las trajineras, Xochimilco. It is unique place in the world, you'll travel by boat and I' sure you are going to enjoy it, do not forget to visit Archeological places like Cuicuilco, Teotihuacan, these are places full of culture.
Good luck!! and enjoy as much as you can.

My expectations!

To be honest, When I decided to study the advanced courses, writing was not in my plans. I used to think English was based on speaking and listening, and writing was always related with gramatical structures that yoy may understand but you rarely practice.
Now, my opinion have changed, writing is as important as sepeaking, you can know a lot about a topic, but if you do not have the appropriate vocabulary or you are not capable of organizing your ideas, you won't be able to show your knowlege on what you are trying to say. Even if you can express your ideas verbally it won´t guarantee that you could do the same by writing.
I expect a lot from this course, obviously to increase my vocabulary, to learn how to organize my ideas and to learn new ways to express myself wich can help me support all my ideas.
